Midsummer Festival. “Līgo”

We have celebrated one of the most important Latvian festivals, the Saint Janis’s Day, or “Līgo”, during the shortest night of the year.
In fact we celebrated twice, the first time together with a group of children from an orphanage in Jelgava and a folklore group. We spent all the night learning to dance and singing traditional music with the children on the 21st of June, the real shortest night this year.
And we also celebrated on the 23th of June, the “official” “Līgo” night, in a ancient farm, discovering the traditional way to enjoy this special moment of the year, playing music until the sunrise and tasting the homemade cheese and honey beer.
